Fresh, straightforward, spicy.
Ah, BC's polarizing rare variety. It does have its followers here though, and most of it's made from long running family vineyards. Those who love Marachel Foch have an almost cult-like reverence for this grape.
This vintage is pretty standard for Oak Bay; spicy, meaty and savoury with notes of leather, iodine and wild red berries. The palate follows suit; it is fresh and straightforward with a spicy finish and decent balance overall.
Pair: Grilled beef, wild mushroom ragout, braised short ribs, aged strong cheeses.
